An elderly man in Moline, IL who did not trust banks, had his life savings sewn into a suit jacket. He accidentally donated said jacket to the Moline Goodwill Store and is actively searching for it to get his money back. He wants to the money back so that he can care for his wife who has Stage IV cancer.
A Goodwill spokeswoman said that they are diligently searching for the coat in order to return the money. From the Moline store, the donations are sent to a regional facility in Iowa City. So far, a search of items donated during that time turned up nothing.
The man’s daughter is offering up a $1,000 reward for anyone who returns the money. She says the man is embarrassed and ashamed by what happened.
