In one of the more creative ways to power a Christmas tree, scientists at an aquarium in Japan are powering a Christmas tree with their frequent shocks.  Electric eels use electricity to sense the world around them and are constantly sending shocks through the water.

Using this electricity to power a Christmas tree is a novel use of the passive power they provide.  Maybe someday we can have them power other things, like laptops or cell phones.  Who knows?

More Than 150 Cars Were Stuck in Sticky Tar on Interstate in Pennsylvania (Video)

More than 150 cars were stuck in tar on the Pennsylvania turnpike after a tanker truck with a broken valve leaked tar all over the road.  The truck was carrying driveway sealant and the cars were stuck as soon as they drove across the substance.  The tanker truck was carrying around 5,000 gallons of the substance.  At this time there is no estimate as to how much damage was caused.
