A video going around Twitter is so disturbing that you simply cannot unsee it. The video shows the camera panning up in what looks like a construction area and then you see them. They look exactly like aliens if aliens were slightly fluffy and had beak like faces.
That’s right, they are baby owls, barn owls in fact. Freakishly unnerving, keep you awake all night, baby owls. The point that Daniel Holland is making here, albeit comical, is not far from the truth.
The Rabbit Hole of Owls and Aliens
In fact, the common image of the gray alien with big black eyes walking out of a space ship is not the only kind of alien reported by abductees. About one in forty Americans believes they have been abducted by aliens. That’s right, one in forty. That means there are about 8 million Americans who think they have been abducted by extraterrestrials. Many of those Americans, bizarrely, report seeing beings that have owl faces or actual owls being around when they see a UFO.
There is even a book about the whole thing by a man named Mike Clelland. One of the stories from the book will give you goosebumps:
A young man named Joe was driving his 4 friends home one night when he and his friend Dave, in the passenger seat, saw a brilliant blue light descending in the sky. Both Joe and Dave were speechless until after they had lost sight of it beyond the tree line. After the shock wore off, they told the three people in the back seats what they had just seen. They were traveling about 55 mph when a white owl flew right up alongside their car with it’s head turned, staring directly at the passengers. This owl was flying right next to the passenger window, close enough that Dave could have reached out and touched it. The owl hovered there for about five seconds and then flew off. Then, less than a mile down the road, another white owl did the exact same thing–again staring sideways while flying right next to the car staring in Dave’s window. Suddenly everyone in the car began screaming, as if they were all feeling the same primal fear.TheoriesOfAtlantis.com

Why on earth is there a connection between owls and UFOs?
The answer to this question is not fully understood but it is important to note that the similarities between fairy sightings in Ireland and modern UFO sightings often mention being taken to a tree with owl like beings in it or to a craft with owl beings.
We also have the curious case of the Egyptian god Thoth, whom they worshipped so hard they killed, sacrificed and mummified many millions of birds. Thoth, who became synomous with the legendary figure of Hermes Trismegistus, had the head of a bird. Not an owl but an ibis, which is similarly unnerving.
The story of Thoth himself is nearly alien in that he brings every civilizing force to mankind from the realm of the gods. A cult devoted to Thoth sprang up and the association between birds and the unknown has been with us ever since.
You can find more about this alien abduction, Thoth, owl connection in Graham Hancock’s excellent book, Supernatural.
Let’s hope the aliens do not look like this when they find us!
